Ideas on Tap

May 23, 5:00 pm7:00 pm

What makes art “good”? Who decides? Can we separate the art from our evaluation or perceptions of the artist him or herself? These are some of the questions that our panelists will address in this lively, interactive discussion at the MAX. Each panelist has practical experience making these judgements about fine artists, craftspeople, writers, and musicians. Sponsored by the Mississippi Humanities Council. Beer by Mitchell Distributing. Free and open to the public, ages 21 and over.

Panelists: Lisa Howorth, Co-founder, Square Books, Oxford; Marty Gamblin, Director of the Hall of Fame, The MAX, Meridian; Stacey Wilson, Curator of Exhibits, The MAX, Meridian; and Mattie Codling, Curator, The Walter Anderson Museum of Art, Ocean Springs. Moderated by Dr. Tony Lewis, Historian, The MAX, Meridian.
