In this illustrated talk, Art is in the Blood: Tattoos as Conduits of Identity, Mattie Codling, Walter Anderson Museum of Art Director of Collections and Exhibitions, delves into the ancient art of the tattoo and its modern iterations. The work of Matt Stebly, Walter Anderson’s great-grandson and world-renowned tattoo artist, will be specifically addressed in this talk. Codling will also lead a historic evaluation of tattoos from the oldest known examples and their purposes to the contemporary work by Stebly. Registration required. Free with discounted admission.
