Summer Film Series: Glory

This summer, The MAX film series will feature Mississippi actors and filmmakers. Each film will be previewed at noon by Ward Emling, retired director of the Mississippi Film Commission. The full-length films will be screened at 8pm, doors open at 7:30. First up, Glory (1989), starring Morgan Freeman as Sergeant Major John Rawlins. Glory is the story of the all-black 54th Regiment of Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry that figured in one of the bloodiest actions of the American Civil War. Rated R. Film length 2 hours, 2 minutes.
Other films in the series: Dark Crystal, 7/10; Girls! Girls! Girls!, 7/17; and The Lion King, 8/21. Both events are free open to the public.
