The Courtyard will be Mississippi’s favorite backyard venue.
A museum celebrating Mississippi’s artists and entertainers would not be complete without a place to perform! Mississippi’s famous entertainers may fill a stadium today, but many started out making music in their own backyards. Now you can, too. The Courtyard at THE MAX welcomes dance and musical performances, readings, and plays by visiting students, homegrown artists and even church choirs.
The Courtyard is a scenic blend of art and nature where guests of all ages can relax and enjoy the show. As the earth gently slopes toward THE MAX, it creates a natural amphitheater with pleasant acoustics and a dramatic view of the Hall of Fame from the outside.
On the stage, a shimmering glass backdrop creates a star-worthy effect behind performers. In the lawn, colorful granite pavers echo the multicolored Hall of Fame exhibit. A water feature dancing across The Courtyard lawn gives a nod to the playful idea carried throughout THE MAX that here in Mississippi, “there must be something in the water.”
