A Conversation with Bobby Rush

Friday, July 3 | 5 pm

Kick off America 250 weekend at The MAX with a free conversation featuring blues legend Bobby Rush and Taiwo Gaynor, director of the new documentary King of the Chitlin’ Circuit, which chronicles Rush’s remarkable life and career and is scheduled to air on Mississippi Public Broadcasting this August.

A multi-Grammy Award-winning musician whose career spans more than seven decades, Rush blends blues, soul, funk, and R&B into a distinctive style that earned him the title “King of the Chitlin’ Circuit.” Widely recognized as one of Mississippi’s most influential blues ambassadors, he is a member of the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame and is honored with a marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail in Jackson.

Join us on Saturday, July 4, as we celebrate America’s 250th with Earth’s Bounty farmers market, a performance by Rising Stars Fife and Drum Band, and free admission to The MAX all day (special hours: 9 am-3 pm).
