John Jennings: Build Your World Opening Day
Join us for the opening day of John Jennings: Build Your World, a new exhibition that explores the extraordinary storytelling and world-building of John Jennings — Mississippi native, NYTimes bestselling graphic novelist, Harvard Fellow, and Hugo- and Eisner Award-winning artist.
Guests are invited to experience the exhibition as a living space that sparks reflection, joy, and imagination through visual art, music, movement, conversation, and hands-on activities.
Schedule of events:
10 am: African dance and drum circle with N’spire Walker in the Citizens National Bank Courtyard
Build Your World art stations
11 am-12:30 pm: Create cyanotypes with H.I. Green in the Trustmark 2D Studio
11 am-2 pm: Make zines with Justin Ransburg in the Structural Steel Services Hall of Fame
12 pm: Leaving Legacies KRUMP street dancers perform in the Citizens National Bank Courtyard
1 pm: John Jennings artist talk in the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Multipurpose Gallery
2:15 pm: Meet the artist mixer in the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Multipurpose Gallery
All events are free with museum admission:

- FREE admission for Members, Children (Under 5), Educators

College students receive free admission on opening day with ID.
In John Jennings: Build Your World, Jennings’s groundbreaking work in Afrofuturism, folklore, and comics is brought to life through multiple creative projects, including Silver Surfer: Ghost Light (Marvel). With work featured at The MET and appearances on CBS Sunday Morning and multiple Marvel documentaries, Jennings is a rock star in the world of comics.
