Junior Kimbrough’s Juke Joint Miniature reveal + Illustrated talk by Lee Harper & Bill Steber

Ever wonder how miniature artists create life-like recreations to scale with meticulous detail? Here’s your chance to see a miniature of Junior Kimbrough’s Juke Joint up close and personal and hear from Meridian native and Oxford resident Lee (Collier) Harper on how she created it. Harper will be joined by blues photographer Bill Steber, the only person to fully document the interior with photography. Together, they will discuss the significance of Mississippi Blues musician Junior Kimbrough and why famed artists like the Rolling Stones traveled to the hallowed ground of Junior’s Place.

Featured in Garden & Gun and  Southern Living, Harper has created over 35 miniatures documenting famous Mississippi places that contribute to our state’s arts and culture legacy. Steber has been documenting Mississippi Blues culture for the last 20 years.

This event is free. Register here.

Harper’s miniature will be on display at The MAX from February 15th through March 15th.
